I had to put my little Sloth twins aside, there was something about them , I don't know what, so they are now cosy together in a little box, patiently waiting until I know what it is.
Last Saturday I began making an owl but he is also in a box. . . .
I'm in a slump !?!
Mmmm, Sunday I visited my mother, she has just moved house and she was in desperate need for help.
My mother has some beautiful antique dolls, lots of bears and two dolls I made when I was 18 years old.
They are made of Fimo and although the colour has darkened they are still in good shape.
I had been making a doll as a present for someone the last week and I realized I missed making dolls.
The doll I made last week was inspired by this picture :
Geppetto carving Pinocchio, he only had his head done and Pinocchio started already making fun of him.
I love this pic !
I first made him of wool felt but I couldn't get the details right and decided to make him of cotton fabric.
So this is the Pinocchio so far, his face is a bit naughty and I have to adjust a little something here and there but I'm pleased.
The lower half of his body is going to be painted as a tree log.
I sooo enjoyed this !

Look at you!!! You have been an EXPERT doll maker even from an early age! How beautiful are the fimo dolls- look at the character in their faces! Speaking of Character, OH MY GOODNESS..Or shall I say, "Jiminy Cricket!!!" LOOK AT THAT PINOCCHIO!!! HAHAHAH, Love the Illustration but even BETTER IS YOUR PUPPET!!!!! Of Course he is a RASCAL and Look at him emerging from his stick of wood!!! He is already causing Wonderful trouble and I see a bit of the donkey in his ears!!! YOU make the FINEST PINOCCHIOS IN THE WORLD!!! Shall we call you "Gepetta"???!!!!!

DeleteRoberta!!! I LOVE BEING ROBERTA!!! I am so honored!!! Thank-you!!!
DeleteВеликолепно!!! Пинокио получился очень озорным и живым. Сейчас выпрыгнет из чашки и пойдет совать свой любопытный нос везде!)))
ReplyDeleteOh yes!You have always been a great dollmaker, Helen!!I am proud you have choosen an italian symbol for this new doll. Pinocchio is more a boy than a puppet here. Wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Marita !
DeleteAwww Helen I love Pinocchio as you know! What a clever idea. It does not surprise me to see you were so talented so very young and I had no idea the fimo dolls were what you made years ago. They are so charming! But I imagine even at a very young age you were already extremely talented and your path was just starting in art. As most of us know who work in art many hours a day, we all get in slumps. It is like writer's block only in art. Just a way of saying, hey better slow down and think of something else fun to make or go outside and smell the roses. And you have! To me you are one of the greatest dollmakers of all time. Even when I was young I knew about the very talented dollmakers in Europe. My grandparents visited Europe when I was young and would bring home amazing mechanical dolls with little wool felt clothing on them. I was so fascinated! I felt the people in Europe must be magical, and you are!
ReplyDeleteSo have fun mijn vriendin! :)
Thank you so much vriendin ! I know you've had a difficult time and still you are so sweet to keep motivating me ! I hope I inspire you as well and we should soon create a Barby/Helen story again !
